Entrepreneurial v. Corporate Success

Success stories of entrepreneurship in real-life always intrigue me. So do any studies about the different attributes traceable between the successful entrepreneur and her corporate counterpart.

For someone who manages to cut a figure and earning in the business world on his own, I guess it particularly takes
  • vision - of a business potential,
  • conviction - that ones plan will work,
  • courage - to take the brave move,
  • perseverance - of enduring hardship, and
  • passion - for what one does.
On the other hand, for an executive to climb the corporate ladder successfully, other than ones "integrity" and a reasonable level of management competence, perhaps, ones people skills - if not political acumen - are more critically important than anything else.
