What Gets You Out of Bed in the Morning?

Marshall Goldsmith wrote in his "What Got You Here Won't Get You There" that "if we had a complete grip on reality, seeing every situation for exactly what it is, we wouldn't get out of bed in the morning." Also, without some self-aggrandizing thoughts, ie, that we were more successful and greater than we truly were, we might not get up in the morning.

I am not sure about that. I think, certainly for me if not for everyone else, that it is the hope, consciously or otherwise, that things will be better today than yesterday - but hardly any self-aggrandizing thought - which gets me out of bed in the morning.

But it seems an useful book to read.
