Fighting the Spirits

Waking up to a gloomy weather, some kinds of sickness may get into people's heads at the instant of consciousness that the temptation lurks to report sick from work. In this dribbling morning, indeed the personnel manager sent me a sms message that she was sick and could not come to work. I responded and asked her to inform my secretary to help out on what she needed done today. But a couple of minutes afterwards, my secretary also texted me that she was having a headache, therefore could not come to the office today!

Off for a whole day for a headache? That's my question for her. So she responded that she would be back around 1130.

Whether it is from the weather, the economy, or life in general, whenever the sense of gloom strikes, we have to fight it back or be doomed. Without any intent to discount the economic hardship, I guess a recession may remain for long as such more because of people's psychology than statistical reality, particularly as negatively influenced with all the doom-saying media coverage.

But to keep the mind clear for its productivity, there are so many other senses to fight against or suppress - that of fear, anger, greed, vex, or even boredom. As for the sense of complacency at work, when the routine is taken for granted, people may miserably fail the test of coping with surprises. One needs to keep the fighting spirit against all demonic spirits.
